The "Counselors Care" Fund

It was a program first created in response to Hurricane Katrina and the other natural disasters of 2005. But the "Counselors Care Fund" has now become a permanent program of the ACA Foundation — a program that is helping make a difference in the lives of many.

When disasters strike, the "Counselors Care Fund" is ready to provide assistance to counselors and counseling organizations that have been affected. Through these grants, the Fund has been able to help counseling professionals rebuild their offices and practices, and deliver much needed services to those in areas of need.

The recent meeting of the ACA Foundation Board of Trustees in New Orleans provided the opportunity to learn directly from grant recipients the impact that these ACAF-provided funds were able to have.

ACAF Chair Terri Lonowski [on right], at the recent ACAF Trustees' meeting in New Orleans, presents Melissa Simon, M.Ed., counselor for the Gentilly Terrace Elementary School, with a $500 "Counselors Care Fund " grant to help in the restarting of counseling services for the children in her school who lost everything to Katrina.

The ACAF is proud of this program, the assistance it has been able to provide so far, and the potential it now offers for quick help when new natural disasters strike.

If you would like to help in this work, a generous donation will help ensure that funds are there when future needs arise.
