ACAF Graduate Student Essay Competition Deadline Approaching

The "Graduate Student Essay Competition" has proven to be one of the most popular ACA Foundation programs over the past decade. Now in its eleventh year, the Competition draws more than a hundred entrants each year, eager to express their opinion on one of the counseling-related essay subjects, and certainly interested in winning one of the Competition awards.

This year's Essay Competition invites counseling graduate students to provide their views on one of three subjects related to counselors and this profession's future:

A. What is the single most important issue you see facing the counseling profession over the next decade?

B. What can counselors and/or the counseling profession do to be more proactive in combating depression and the problems it brings?

C. Do you think all professional counselors, regardless of specialty, should be licensed? Why or why not?

The awards for this year's Competition winners include a $500 grant to the first prize winner, plus a free year of ACA membership for the top five essays, and publication in Counseling Today for the five top essays.

The Competition relies on a panel of experienced counseling professionals who evaluate and eventually select the winning essays.

The deadline for entries for the 2008 competition is April 25, 2008.

Additional information and entry rules are available through the ACA Foundation website at www.acafoundation.org, or by calling ACA Member Services at 800-347-6647 x222.
